Have a daily ritual of starting to get your creative process going: On command you can not be creative. Nobody can. Not even the most genial writers, musicians, and painters in the world. So how do they continue to churn out hit after hit? Simple: every day, they show up to work. And then, they accept that creativity ebbs and flows itself.
Use a project box to get yourself organized, prepared and recalibrated at work: You can take a simple cardboard box each time you start a new, creative project, write the project name on it and then put all your resources and materials in the box.Why is this helpful? A couple of reasons:
It represents a commitment to the project. As long as the box isn’t empty, you still have work to do.
It shows you how far you’ve come. Even if the project stalls, you can always open the box, look inside and see what you’ve done already.
It keeps everything you need neatly organized in one place.
Make it easy to pick up work again by leaving right in the middle of something: This trick comes from Ernest Hemingway, one of the most famous authors of all time: Combined with your starting ritual, it will really help you get moving your hands, feet, or whatever you're using to create your work. If you leave your work right in the middle of something, where you know exactly what you're going to do next, it'll be really easy to pick up again
